Lots of you have written to request more patterns for big quilt blocks. Here you go -- All Hallows is brand new, with two sizes to choose from -- 12" square and 24" square. I've included a blank,
coloring book drawing with the pattern, to make it easy for you to either use more fabrics than shown in the example, or to change the placement of
color value to give the block a different appearance. Just print that drawing out and experiment a bit.

Remember the Anniversary Sampler Quilt?
Wednesday August 27, 2008

Jill Chanapai and other members of her Bangkok quilt group made quilts from my First Anniversary Sampler patterns, and hers is the first finished sampler that's been submitted for our galleries. Jill used fabric from Australia and Bangkok to make the quilt. The sampler is hand-quilted with
Aboriginal art symbols (what a brilliant idea - the symbols are perfect for quilting motifs).
I'm still kicking around a second sampler quilt. So far I haven't been entirely happy with any of my designs, but I do know it will be a wallhanging, not a larger quilt (although I love giving options, so I might go with a large and a small version). Right now I'm leaning towards a Row quilt.

It's almost fall -- nearly time for lots of quilt shows, some large and some small. Do you have a favorite show? Feel free to use the comments button under this message to tell us about it.
Quilt shows and fabric vendors nearly always go hand in hand. How deep is your fabric addiction? Can you walk through a quilt shop or quilt show booth without making a purchase? If you're new to quilting, your fabric gene might not be fully developed -- but stick around quilters for awhile and I guarantee it will be nurtured. Take the Fabriholics Quiz to discover just how far gone you are.

Joy started a
discussion in the Quilting Forum, all about "found" tools -- not your typical quilting tools, but things that work perfectly with the tasks we have to accomplish. I've started sorting all of the tips in the discussion into categories so they can be archived on the Quilting site (and adding them to the suggestions you've
submitted with the form).
Who'd have thought that different kinds of tapes could come in so handy, or that needle helpers can be found throughout the house? I think you'll also appreciate tips that help you keep your sewing machine in perfect condition.
I'm nowhere near finished with tips -- the truth is, I'll never be finished putting them online because more tips are landing in my in-box every day. So check the index regularly to see what's new -- and keep those tips coming.
Subscribe to my Tip of the Day Newsletter if you'd like to have individual tips delivered by email.
